Leanne wanted to create memories for her family to be proud of in years to come. Like most parents who have great intentions to get a family portrait session of their kids, before she knew it, she was having her 3rd baby so we waited until everything was settled and set the date in the diary.
She invited me into her home just before Christmas, which is a very private space and we appreciate this. Our years of experience arriving at Bride’s homes on the morning of a wedding, not really knowing anyone has helped us so to assess personalities, lighting situations and pretty much how to relax people very quickly.
Greeted with lots of Christmas decorations, 2 busy little ladies, a sweet newborn baby boy and a very chilled Mum & Dad.
Aware that I was loosing light on this dark December afternoon, a bedroom with great natural window light was our only light source and with such excitement from the kids, it was complete anticipation for most of the imagery.
Taking into account when a newborn comes along, the older kids need extra attention during a shoot and while this is all happening, they feed from your energy so you have to ensure you remain calm and seem in control!!
A hour or so later, hoping you have achieved the best results possible and images that everyone will be proud of, you leave feeling a bit exhausted but anxious to load the work to see how it went.
This pretty much sums up how most family photography sessions go, it helps when you love kids.
